Mango Wood is a wise choice for beautiful hardwood furniture in your home and is rapidly gaining popularity within the furniture market. More traditional hardwoods used in home furniture are oak and teak, however these are not as sustainable as Mango Wood is.

With the current focus on businesses that use natural recourses being as environmentally friendly as possible, it is important that we at the Hardwood Co do all we can to ensure a strong future for the next generations. Using a sustainable wood, like Mango wood, ensures that we're not depleting our natural resources. Mango wood comes, unsurprisingly, from the Mango tree and is seen as a sustainable wood source. The main use of the Mango tree is to bear fruit. The Mango tree itself is one of the largest trees around and can grow up to 5ft in diameter with a height of up to 100ft.

Wood from the Mango tree is only used once the tree comes to an age in which is stops producing fruit. Mango trees that do produce fruit have that as their main use and will not be used for wood. When the Mango tree stops fruiting, it is then cut down by the tree owner and sold to wood workers to make beautiful Mango Wood Furniture. New Mango trees are planted in place of the one that was cut down, ensuring that there is a sustainable supply of these trees for years to come.

Mango wood is a fantastic hardwood that is relatively easy to work with, it has properties that make it dense yet easy to carve or turn. It is also much lighter than other hardwoods like oak which is a positive point if you need to move your furniture around often. Although Mango wood is lighter than similar furniture woods, it is still very much a strong wood to use.
